The Barrocade is a unique orchestra in the Israeli musical scene. The ensemble is composed of players who have specialized in early music in leading European music academies and have returned to Israel in order to establish a baroque ensemble of international calibre.

The orchestra performs without a conductor; the management of the orchestra is shared equally by the ensemble members. Both musical and administrative decisions are discussed and accepted by the members in a democratic and egalitarian manner.

The Barrocade is a unique group of around twelf of Israel’s leading early musicians, performing on historical instruments copied from 17th and 18th century originals.

The members of the ensemble are musicians specializing exclusively in early music who have chosen to be based in Israel. The goal of the orchestra is to combine the players’ rich knowledge and experience as solo and as chamber musicians in order to perform the repertoire of the baroque era, with a special focus on cantatas and opera.
